Without an account

You can use every converter without signing in. Conversions are calculated in your browser and are not sent to our servers. Your theme preference is kept in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

With an account

We store:

• Your name, so the site can greet you.
• Your email address, used to sign in and to reset your password.
• A description of what you do (student, professional, and so on), used only to understand who the site serves.
• A securely hashed version of your password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered.
• Your conversion history: the category, the two units, the input value, the result and the timestamp.

Deleting your data

You can clear your conversion history from the dashboard at any time. You can also delete your account yourself from the dashboard, under account settings. Deleting an account permanently removes your profile, your saved conversions, any pending password-reset links and any messages you sent us from that address. This cannot be undone.

Contact messages

Messages sent through the contact form are stored so we can reply and so we can track reported corrections. They are not used for marketing.

Cookies

One cookie, set by the authentication system, keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. Signing out clears it.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used so we can decide which converters and guides to build next. We record the page viewed, the website that referred you, the approximate country, the type of device, which converter units were used and what was typed into unit search.

This measurement sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Your IP address is never saved. To count unique visitors, your IP address and browser type are combined with a secret that changes every day and turned into a one-way code, so a visit cannot be linked to you or to your visits on other days. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, none of this is recorded. Usage records are deleted after about 13 months.

We also use a privacy-friendly page-view counter provided by our infrastructure, which likewise sets no cookies and does not track you across other sites.

Service providers

Like most websites, we rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the site: infrastructure to serve pages and store data securely, and an email service to deliver password-reset messages and replies to contact requests. Each provider only processes the information it needs to perform that task, and none of them may use it for their own purposes.

Keeping data safe

All traffic to the site is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, and sign-in and form endpoints are rate limited to protect accounts from abuse.
