Thermal Resistance (R-value) converter
R-value, RSI, tog and clo for insulation and bedding.
Thermal insulance, better known as the R-value, measures how well a layer resists heat flow. It is the reciprocal of the U-value. US building products are labelled in ft²·°F·h/BTU, the rest of the world uses m²·K/W (RSI), duvets are sold by tog and clothing is rated in clo. Higher numbers insulate better.

1 ft²·°F·h/BTU = 0.1761101837 m²·K/W
Multiply the number of r-values (us) by 0.176110183682.
Results are rounded for display. Double-check values for critical work.
