Fabric & Paper Weight (GSM) converter
GSM, oz/yd² and US paper basis weights.
GSM — grams per square metre — is how the rest of the world states the weight of fabric and paper. US mills instead quote pounds per ream, but a ream is cut to a different parent size for each grade, which is why 20 lb bond and 50 lb text are nearly the same paper. Textiles are simpler: one ounce per square yard is 33.906 GSM exactly.
